Dr. Brian R. Shmaefsky Professor of Biology & Environmental Science Chair, LSCS IRB Lone Star College – Kingwood
All grant proposals that involve animal and human subject research typically require evidence of access to an Institutional Review Board (IRB) to qualify for the grant. Federal guidelines determine the structure and uniform operations of all IRBs. The IRB process ensures that certain types of animal and human studies ensure the safety and well-being of the subjects. Well-being includes protecting the privacy and rights of a subject as well as guaranteeing confidentiality of identifiable information. This presentation will instruct participants of the need for the IRB and IRB process.
